Katrin Auner
Lives and works in Fredrikstad, Norway
Through her schooling years she found early recognition in youth art competitions, and the discipline of those years still underpins her work: a pursuit of balance between colour, luminosity and mathematical distance, deliberately unsettled by contrasting elements.
Her primary inspiration comes from nature and landscape, and from human and animal depictions, subjects that recur throughout the collection. Working in oil and acrylic on canvas and wood panel, she incorporates semi-abstract techniques and experiments with materials and texture, aiming for paintings that invite contemplation well beyond a first viewing.
Her deepest fulfillment comes when viewers establish personal connections with a work: a painting seen, and then kept looking at.
